With over 45 years of experience in the Insurance industry, Mr. Rivera is a respected and well know businessman and entrepreneur who founded and today presides TEAM INSURANCE SERVICES, INC. He began his career as a life insurance agent for John Hancock. Four years later he founded Inter American Underwriters as an all-lines broker. The firm was later sold to Alexander & Alexander, which was sold afterwards to Aon Risk Services. Mr. Rivera was Chairman and CEO of Aon for 7 years. He holds the license of Insurance Producer and is licensed in the states of Texas and Florida.
In 2009 Mr. Rivera, deciding to “build up” this TEAM, founded Team Insurance Services, Inc. The insurance brokerage firm is a corporation whose professionals, for the most part, are not only long-time colleagues sharing many years of experience in the Insurance industry, but have bonded to become more like a family. Mr. Rivera has had the insight and taken the care to ensure the members of TEAM share many values, such as those of integrity and commitment to excellence. Additionally, he has made providing the highest quality of personalized service the core of TEAM.
In 2014, Elpidio Rivera was bestowed with the Alejandro Herrero recognition by the General Contractors’ Association (“ACG” for its acronym in Spanish). This prize is granted to a highly valued contributor and bastion of the Construction industry.
Monica began her career in the insurance industry at Dynamic Adjustment Bureau in 1997. One year later she became an independent Adjuster, providing her services to different insurance carriers. In 2000 she joined an insurance brokerage firm as a Claims Representative. Growth opportunities continued to present themselves for Monica and in 2009 she became a part of TEAM INSURANCE SERVICES as Claims Manager.
Monica holds a Bachelors’s in Business Administration from Loyola University in New Orleans, the CISR and CIC Designations, as well as the Property & Casualty license from the Office of the Insurance Commissioner of Puerto Rico.
Beatriz has over two decades of experience in the Insurance industry, beginning her career in the same in 1993 at Benitez, Fernandez & Valle in the Commercial Lines Department as a Customer Service Representative. In 1999 she joined AON Risk Services as an Account Executive for the Construction Department. Ten years later, in 2009, she became part of TEAM Insurance Services, Inc. as Account Executive for the Property and Casualty Department handling both commercial and personal accounts.
Beatriz holds a Bachelors’ in Business Administration from the UPR – Río Piedras, the CIC Designation and the Broker’s license from the Office of the Insurance Commissioner of P.R.
Elizabeth began in the insurance industry in 1989 assisting Mr. Elpidio Rivera the President of Inter-American Underwriters at the time. Later Inter-American was acquired by Barros & Carrión presently known as AON Risk Services. She worked for AON 20 years; first as a Customer Services Representative for the Bonds Department and later on as Bond Manager. Currently, and since 2009, she is the Bond Manager at Team Insurance Services, Inc.
Elizabeth is licensed by the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance as an Authorized Representative in Disability, Life, Title and Property & Casualty insurance. She is also a member of the National Association of Surety Bond Producers (NASBP).
Nilsa was the first to join TEAM INSURANCE SERVICES, INC in 2009., as an assistant to Mr. Elpidio Rivera, President of the firm. After 26 years working as an executive assistant in the Construction industry, she began her growth process in the Insurance industry and is responsible at TEAM for the reception area, various of the purchasing functions and all of TEAM’s clerical work.
Nilsa possesses a Bachelors’ degree in Secretarial Sciences from “Universidad del Sagrado Corazón” in Santurce, P.R.. She has taken courses to expand her knowledge and competencies of the industry such as: Fundamentals of Insurance and Principals of Property and Casualty, among others.
Johannis started in the insurance industry in 2002 in an administrative capacity, moving upward and becoming a Customer Service Representative at the Bonds Department of Aon Risk Services of PR in 2004. After 7 years progressive experience within the industry, in 2009, she joined TEAM INSURANCE SERVICES, INC. as an Account Executive within the Bonds unit.
Johannis is a Certified Insurance Service Representative “CISR” and is certified by the NASBP Surety School –Levels I & II. Additionally, she possesses a license from the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance of PR in Property & Casualty Insurance and is completing a degree in Management from the University of Turabo.
Ana María began her career in the insurance industry in 1990 as Assistant Comptroller in Inter-American Underwriters, which was later acquired by Barros & Carrión, presently known as Aon Risk Services of P.R. She worked 19 years for Aon in the Accounting Department. After her tenure there, Ana joined TEAM Insurance Services, Inc. in June of 2013 in the Accounting Department.
Ana María holds a Bachelors’ in Business Administration from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus, with a concentration in Information Systems.
Additionally, Ana María was a past President of the Committee for Community Assistance of the General Contractors’ Association (“ACG” for its acronym in Spanish), providing assistance to diverse institutions as part of the social responsibility initiatives of the Association.
Olgas’ first steps in the insurance industry were with Barros & Carrión in 1989, where she worked as a Service Representative in the Claims Division and later became an Assistant Account Executive in the Construction Insurance Department. In 1999 she began working as an Assistant Account Executive with the Construction Insurance Department with Saldaña & Associates (today Marsh Saldaña, Inc.). In 2001 Olga left to work for Mr. Elpidio Rivera, then president of Alexander & Alexander (today Aon Insurance), where she held the position of Account Executive in the Construction Insurance Department. Later during her tenure with Aon Olga was promoted to Senior Account Executive in the Commercial Lines Division and afterwards in the Claims Department. In May of 2017 Olga left Aon Risk Solutions and, with almost 30 years of experience in the Insurance industry, in July of 2018 began as an Assistant Account Execute with Team Insurance Services.
Olga Ortíz is a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico and holds a BA in Social Sciences with a Concentration in Social Well-being. Additionally, Olga possesses a broker’s license from the Office of the Insurance Commissioner of P.R and the CIS and CISR certifications.
Mariana joined TEAM INSURANCE SERVICES, INC. upon graduating from college in 2014 in the Personal & Commercial Insurance department as an Account Executive.
Having graduated from the U.P.R.- Mayaguez Campus with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, she also holds a Bachelors’ in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the U.P.R.- Río Piedras campus. As of 2016 she is working towards completing her Master’s degree in Risk Management at “Universidad Universal de Puerto Rico”. Mariana holds a Property and Casualty license from the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance of Puerto Rico as an insurance broker.
Mariana has been actively involved in diverse community assistance initiatives with the Mu Alpha Phi sorority, of which she is a member.
Katherine has over 17 years of progressive experience in the Health Insurance industry, having worked for firms such as Cruz Azul of PR, HUMANA and MAPFRE. In 2015 she becomes an independent insurance agent, later that year joining Team Insurance Services as an Account Executive. She possesses several academic and professional awards and recognitions such as, but not limited to, the AFLAC Super Star Award in 2015.
Katherine holds a Bachelors in Health Education from the UPR, Medical Sciences Campus, a Masters’ in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources and is currently coursing studies towards a doctoral degree in Family Theological Therapy & Counseling from Ecotheos International University.
In her time away from work, Katherine is actively involved in community work and providing social and spiritual counseling both in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, as she is a certified chaplain, pastor and is president of the CAD School of Human Development in Humacao.
Having begun her career in the Financial Services industry in 1983, primarily in the Business Development and Commercial Lending areas initially, in 1995 Marilyn became Marketing Director for PonceBank. She continued her leadership role in Marketing at several other financial institutions and in early 2004 moved from Banking to Health Insurance as Director of Marketing & Public Relations at HUMANA and member of the Executive Committee. In mid 2006 she returned to Banking and in 2013 established her own small business as a Marketing consultant.
Marilyn has both a Bachelors’ degree with a major in Marketing and an MBA with concentration in Strategic Planning & Leadership. She began studies in Pre-medicine at the UPR, later finding her passion for Business Administration and graduating from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico and Universidad del Turabo respectively. She is a Certified Marketing Executive (CME) and a licensed Public Relations professional by the Department of State of P.R. (R-703).
